Course Update – July 11, 2025

The greens are currently in excellent health. We’ve begun lowering mowing heights to 0.115″, which is the optimal limit for maintaining consistent quality without risking scalping on our more undulating surfaces. This refined height, combined with rolling at least four times per week, will help us continue to increase green speeds. We’re currently achieving speeds in the 10 to 10.5-foot range, with a target of reaching 11.5 feet through July and August. As conditions allow, we are also continuing our bi-monthly topdressing program to further enhance smoothness and manage thatch levels.

Fairways have responded very well following the removal of poa annua. Areas that were seeded are progressing and will continue to fill in as the season advances. While some poa annua is naturally trying to return, our September PoaCure applications will help maintain progress. This is an ongoing process, but one we’re fully committed to. After 25 years, achieving greens that are virtually poa-free is a significant milestone and a testament to the long-term dedication of both our membership and management.

The practice facility continues to be one of the most utilized areas of the property. The forward tiers, in particular, are in need of enhancement. Plans are underway for regrading, rootzone and drainage upgrades, and regrassing this coming fall and spring. These improvements will ensure our practice areas continue to meet the same high standard as the rest of the course.
