Policies, Rules and Regulations

Member/Family Use Privileges

Immediate Family
The immediate family of a member will be entitled to use the Club Facilities on the same basis as the Member. An Equity Member’s immediate family is defined as the member’s spouse and the unmarried children of either spouse under the age of 23.

Extended Family
The Extended Family of a member will be entitled to use the Club Facilities, but shall be subject to restrictions and pay fees as determined  by the Board of Directors from time to time. Extended Family is defined as parents, grandparents, adult children age 23 and over, and grandchildren of the member and spouse. The Club may modify or terminate this privilege and establish such rules with respect thereto as it may determine (Bylaws Article X, Section 5). Please see rules below.

  1. All Extended Family will not be able to host guests on the golf course during July.
  2. Adult Extended Family (23 years and older) will be limited to 12 days of golf per year.
  3. Extended Family Rates/18 hole Green Fee: Children 23 and over: $75, Grandchildren under 23: $45

Social Member Golf Privileges
Prior to October 1, Social Members are subject to the guest policy when golfing (must be  accompanied by a Golf Member and pay guest fees).
After October 1 they may play the course up to 6 times unaccompanied and do not pay guest fees. (per calendar year)

General Club Rules and Regulations

  • In no case shall any Member or his/her guest reprimand, verbally abuse or intimidate an Iron Horse Golf Club employee. Any problems that a Member or guest may have should be addressed to the General Manager. Violation of this policy may result in the suspension or expulsion of the offending Member at the
    discretion of the Board of Directors.
  • Members are accountable for the behavior of their guests. Violation of the rules by guests, accompanied or otherwise, will be treated as a violation of the Member.
  • Iron Horse is a non-smoking facility. Smoking is permitted only in designated areas. Smoking is permitted on the golf course subject to restrictions/prohibitions implemented by the Board of Directors at its discretion from time to time.
  • The carrying or use of firearms is prohibited anywhere on Club property except by duly authorized police, security forces, or employees in the performance of their duties.
  • Fireworks of any kind are not permitted anywhere on Club property or adjacent areas unless part of a fireworks exhibit organized and conducted by the Club.
  • Motorcycles, ATVs, mopeds, scooters, etc. will not be allowed on Club properties (except for designated automobile parking lots).
  • When the Pony Express is open, the Dog Show will be available to golfers only.
  • There will be no Unaccompanied Guest Privileges for non-golf, golf, or Club facilities during the month of July. Use of non-golf Club facilities may be granted in months other than July upon official registration of guests through the Club office.
  • The use of cell phones is permitted on Club property but only in “silent” or “vibrate” modes. Should a call be received on any Club property where other Members are present, the Member is expected to depart the immediate area so that other Members and guests cannot hear the conversation. A general standard courtesy to fellow Members is expected and required.
  • Cash tipping is not permitted at any Club facility, including valet services. The Staff Holiday Fund has been established to provide a means of saying “thank you” to the staff of Iron Horse at the end of each year.  A reminder will be sent to the membership in   November so that those who would like to contribute may do so.
  • Children may not sit at the bar unless accompanied by an adult.
  • No person shall be permitted to enter into any of the Club lakes or ponds for any purposes.
  • Swimming, diving, and boating are not permitted at Fish Camp.
  • Casual wear, including blue jeans, is permitted in the bar, dining room, and on the lower level of the Clubhouse. Blue jeans must be clean and free of holes, frays, or patches. Gym attire is not
    appropriate for the upper bar or dining rooms.
  • Men will not be permitted to wear hats in the Main Dining Room. Men will be permitted to wear hats in all other locations.
  • Women will be permitted to wear hats anywhere at any time.
  • Definitions
  1. Primary Member or Spouse: the adult equity owner of a membership
  2. Immediate Family: children under the age of 23
  3. Extended Family: parents, grandparents, adult children (children who do not fall within the Immediate Family definition) and grandchildren of the Primary Member and/or Spouse.

Host Member: A, B, and/or C

Guest Policy

All guests at Iron Horse shall be either “Accompanied Guests” or “Unaccompanied Guests”.  An Unaccompanied Guest is defined as a registered guest of a member with an account set up at Iron Horse who may use non-golf Club facilities while not in the company of a member. All other guests of a member shall be considered Accompanied Guests.

Golf Guests
There will be no Unaccompanied Guest play allowed on the Golf Course or Practice Facility at any time. All guests must be accompanied by the sponsoring Host Member when using the golf
facilities and are limited to six rounds per year.

 Accompanied Guests

  • Accompanied Guests must be accompanied by the sponsoring Host Member when using the golf facilities or any other Club facilities, unless otherwise determined by the Club from time to time.
  • The sponsoring Member shall be responsible for all charges incurred by the guest and for the conduct of the guest while at the Club.
  • An Accompanied Guest is limited to no more than six rounds of golf per season, regardless of the sponsoring Member, unless otherwise determined by the Club from time to time. The greens fee for the guest of a Member for 18 holes is $115.00.
  • The Club may modify or terminate this privilege and establish such rules with respect thereto as it may determine.

Unaccompanied Guests
Privileges for Non-Golf Facilities

  • Unaccompanied Guest privileges will be extended to guests of a Member for the sole purpose of using non-golf facilities who have been officially registered by the Member. There will be no Unaccompanied Guest play allowed on the Golf Course or Practice Facility at any time.
  • There will be no Unaccompanied Guest Privileges for non-golf, golf, or Club facilities during the month of July. Use of non-golf Club facilities may be granted in months other than July upon official registration of guests through the Club office.
  • Unaccompanied Guests are limited to one visit (maximum 14 days) per lifetime. Following this visit, guests must be accompanied by a Member at all times while using Club Facilities.
  • The sponsoring Member shall be responsible for all charges incurred by the guest and for the conduct of the guest while at the Club.  An Unaccompanied Guest account may be set up if desired; however, the guest’s credit card and other information must be submitted to the Club prior to their arrival.
  • The sponsoring Member must initiate an application at least five business days prior to the arrival date of the guest.
  • Members may not sponsor any more than eight Unaccompanied Guests at the same time.

  • Each player will receive the applicable cart fee, unless otherwise walking the course
  • Members & guests will receive the maximum fee of 18 holes and one cart fee per day. If a group plays more than 18 holes, further charges do not incur
  • A guest may charge their guest, cart, and caddie fees via credit card only if approved by the sponsoring member

Junior Golf Guest Fee Information:

  • Junior guest fees have been established for guests 22 years and younger
  • Golfers must be 16 years of age to obtain usage of a golf cart and will be charged a cart fee accordingly
  • Golfers under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times (including at the Practice Facility)
  • Dispensation may be granted for junior golfers that have demonstrated the necessary understanding of golf etiquette, play proficiency, and maturity at the discretion of the Club’s head golf professional.

*cart passengers under 16 years of age will not be charged a cart fee

Golf Rules and Golf Course Etiquette

  • The Rules of Golf as adopted by the U.S.G.A., together with the Rules of Etiquette as adopted by the U.S.G.A., shall be the rules of the Club, except when in conflict with local rules or with any of the rules and regulations herein.
  • At least one Primary Member and/or Spouse must be in each 4/5 ball (golf group) before 11 am all season. The golf shop will be encouraged to arrange 4 balls/per tee time before 11 am (i.e. singles and twosomes will be paired).
  • Each 4 ball/5 ball must have at least one Host member in the group at all times, all season.
  • When the Pony Express is open, the Dog Show will be available to golfers only.
  • Slow play seriously detracts from an enjoyable game of golf. It is the Club policy that all rounds of golf at Iron Horse shall be played in an allowed time of four hours and 15 minutes. Habitual violation may result in restrictions and/or suspensions of the Member’s access to the golf course at the discretion of the Club’s Head Golf Professional.
  • If your group is moving slowly, please allow faster groups to play through. However, groups of three or less should not expect to play through if the course is busy. Groups falling more than one full hole behind the group in front should make every effort to catch up or allow the following group to play through.
  • Groups choosing to stop for lunch at the turn may lose their standing on the golf course.
  • Members wishing to play music on the golf course or practice facility may do so as long as the volume is limited to a level that does not bother or distract fellow players. A general standard of courtesy is expected and required by all Members and their guests. If any Club employee directs a Member or guest to limit the volume or otherwise discontinue music on the golf course or practice facility, the Member or guest is required to promptly comply.
  • The following clothing is deemed not appropriate for the golf course or practice areas: cut-offs, tennis wear, t-shirts, halter tops, gym wear, swimwear, and shorts that are more than 4
    inches above the knee. Non-collared or sleeveless tops are
    acceptable for women. Mock neck golf shirts are acceptable for men. Blue jeans are allowed on the course and practice facility, but must be clean and free from holes, frays, or patches.
  • Each golfer must have his/her own clubs and bag.
  • Practice balls are property of the Club and are not to be removed from the practice areas.
  • Please repair ball marks on greens.
  • Please replace all sizeable divots in fairways. Sand is provided on golf carts for small and obliterated divots that are unable to be replaced.
  • Carefully rake bunkers after use.
  • All play should begin at No. 1 tee unless permission is granted by the Golf Shop or Starter to begin elsewhere.
  • If lightning is in the area, all play shall cease.
  • Jogging, bicycling or recreational walking is not permitted on the golf course after 8:00 am.
  • Pull carts are permitted for Junior Golfers under 16 years of age (restrictions may apply).

Locker Rooms and Fitness Facility

  • No female children over the age of 3 will be allowed in the Men’s Locker Room and no male children over the age of 3 will be allowed in the Ladies’ Locker Room.
  • It is the responsibility of all persons who intend to use the Fitness Facility to consult with a physician prior to physical exercise, or use of any exercise equipment.
  • Members and guests agree to hold the Club and their directors, officers, and employees harmless from any and all injuries sustained from the use of the facilities.

Tennis

  • Court reservations are not required; please limit play to 45 minutes if others are waiting.
  • Lessons scheduled with a Club tennis professional have priority over all other play. Lessons can be arranged through Outdoor Pursuits.
  • A ball machine is available for checkout at the pool during pool hours.
  • Tennis racquets and balls are available for checkout at the pool facility.
  • Proper tennis attire is required at all times, including shirts and regulation tennis shoes. Black soled shoes are not permitted.
  • No skateboards, hover boards, scooters, bicycles, roller blades, etc. are permitted on the tennis courts.

Swimming Pool and Pool Hot Tub

  • A standard of general courtesy will be employed by all Members, guests, and children. The Club reserves the right to remove anyone not observing this standard of courtesy. Habitual violation of the rules may result in the suspension of use of the pool facilities of the offending Member, guest, or child at the discretion of the Club’s Board of Directors.
  • Use of the pool and hot tub is at the swimmer’s own risk. The Club shall not have any liability to any Member or guest for damage or injury resulting from use of pool facilities.
  • Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult or approved person. This may include an older sibling, provided the parents or grandparents have notified the Club of such arrangements.
  • The pool is reserved for lap swimming and lessons prior to 10am.
  • At 10am, the pool will be open to recreation activities until closing.
  • During the period July 1 to August 30, a lifeguard will be on duty daily from 10am-5pm.
  • Children that are not toilet trained must wear a specially designed swimming diaper to use the pool facilities.
  • Glass objects or containers are not permitted in the pool area.
  • Bicycles, skateboards, hover boards, scooters, etc. are not permitted in the pool area.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the pool area.
  • Proper swimming attire must be worn at all times.
  • Animals are not permitted in any of the pool facilities.
  • Upon indication of thunder or lightning, all persons must exit the pool until the Club determines the pool is safe to reopen for use.

Golf Carts/Motorized Vehicles

  • EACH OPERATOR OF A GOLF CART MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE AND HAVE A VALID AUTOMOBILE DRIVER’S LICENSE. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS RULE MAY RESULT IN THE SUSPENSION OF THE PRIMARY MEMBER AT THE DISCRETION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
  • Carts are not to be driven in areas where fescue and/or native grasses are present. Carts can only be driven on cart paths or blue grass fairway areas of the golf course. Violation of this policy may result in the suspension of cart usage by the offending Member.
  • Club owned carts may only be operated on Club property in appropriated designated areas. Club owned carts may not be operated on streets within Iron Horse (aside from the designated cart/path lane to and from the practice facilities) or taken off Club property to include:

*Cabins or other private residences
*The pools in the Larkspur or Silverberry residential areas
*The tennis facility

  • Operation of a golf cart is at the risk of the operator. Members are responsible for any cart damage or injury caused by themselves or their guests.
  • Carts are not permitted within 50 feet of the front, side, or back of any green or tee unless on a cart path.
  • Privately owned golf carts must be REGISTERED with the Club to operate on Club property with the exception of the use of generally designated automobile parking lots. A $100 registration fee will apply, a valid permit sticker must be displayed, and a valid contract must be executed by the Member. Only green carts with specifications matching Club carts will be accepted. Any non-registered cart will not be permitted on designated Club property.

    Children Access/Etiquette

    Iron Horse is intended to be a family-oriented Club, and the Club encourages the use and enjoyment of the Club and its facilities by Members, their children, and grandchildren. Members are responsible for adherence by all children, grandchildren, and their guests to the Club’s rules and regulations.

    • Unattended children under the age of 10 are not allowed at any of the Club Facilities.
    • Children must be 12 years of age or older to enter the Fitness Facility and must be 16 years of age or older to use the Cardio equipment.
    • Children must be 16 years of age or older to use the Fitness and Locker Room Spa Facilities unless accompanied and supervised by an adult. Dispensation may be granted for children engaged in training for sports or related activities at the sole discretion of the Club Manager.
    • Children must be 16 years of age or older to use the golf course or practice facilities unless accompanied by an adult. Dispensation may be granted for junior golfers that have
      demonstrated the necessary understanding of golf etiquette, play proficiency, and maturity at the discretion of the Club’s head golf professional.
    • Children under the age of 18 are limited to one guest at a time to use the locker room or wet areas.

Any violation of the above rules will be subject to an immediate 30 day suspension.
