Iron Horse is a private Club community located in the Rocky Mountain Resort town of Whitefish, MT. Iron Horse and the greater community of Whitefish and the surrounding area offers the best a western mountain town has to give! If you are an outdoor enthusiast, Iron Horse and Northwest Montana has it all. Golf, skiing, lake sports, biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, river rafting, backpacking, you name it. The Iron Horse community rests in the midst of 820 secluded acres of stunning old-growth forest for its year-round residential community.
The charming mountain town of Whitefish offers incredible restaurants (by all accounts), retail, galleries, performing arts, indoor hockey/skating facility, Whitefish Lake, a great medical community, and a wonderful school system. All the retail “big box stores” are a quick 12 miles south in the town of Kalispell. Just a bit further south is the artistic village of Bigfork, which rests at the head of Flathead Lake and boasts a vibrant theater program, Bigfork Summer Playhouse, and even more top notch restaurants. Our lakes are truly something special. A significant addition compared to other mountain resort towns. Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake in the western United States.
The elevation of Whitefish is important: the summit of the ski area is only 7,000 feet, yet receives over 300 inches of snowfall annually. Elevation acclamation here is not the same as many other mountain resort towns. Iron Horse starts at approximately 3,000 feet in elevation and tops out at approximately 4,000 feet.
The area offers four true seasons. Unrivaled summers and magnificent falls spent golfing, boating on Whitefish and Flathead Lakes, hiking in Glacier National Park, or rafting/fishing on the Flathead River. Wonderful winters with Whitefish Mountain Resort less than 10 minutes away and Blacktail Ski Area on the southern end of the valley. Whitefish is a true ski town! All this is serviced by Glacier Park International Airport, less than 25 minutes away, with direct flights from several cities including Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, and San Francisco.
