Job Summary

Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, fill in at other front of house positions such as Hostess/Host, waitress/waiter

Supervises: no others
Related Titles: Server, Hostess/host

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years previous bartending experience in a full-service bar setting
Previous guest service experience preferred
Familiar with Montana State Liquor Control laws

Licenses/Certifications

TIPS Certification Card
Possess a valid driver’s license (if utilizing company vehicles)
Satisfactory driving record in accordance with liability insurance guidelines

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Inspects the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available
  2. Requests additional supplies as necessary or orders supplies
  3. Follows set-up procedures
  4. Prepares garnishes, mixes and pre-mixed drinks
  5. Greets members and guests
  6. Learn to identify members by name; identify non-members for security reasons
  7. Mixes, prepares and serves drinks, serve meals at the bar if necessary
  8. Run chits on bar tickets and run credit cards if necessary
  9. Reports complaints to Food & Beverage Manager as soon as they occur
  10. Maintains and cleans bar area and equipment
  11. Maintains records of liquors, beers, wine, tobacco and sundries to ensure par stock is maintained at all times
  12. Cleans and lock-ups according to prescribed procedures
  13. Attends staff meetings as required
  14. Ability to Lift 25-50 lbs

Physical Requirements

While working the employee must twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, climb stairs, walk indoors and out, reach above shoulder height, reach at shoulder height, and reach below shoulder height.  The employee must also be able to lift and carry 10 to 50 lbs regularly and over 50 lbs occasionally.  This includes carrying ice buckets and chests (50+ lbs), cases of various beverages (15+ lbs), and assisting other F&B staff with table / chairs.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Sets up side station and performs assigned side work
2. Provides immediate attention to all members/guests upon seating
3. Answers questions and-suggests menu items
4. Takes members’/guests’ orders
5. Places alcoholic beverage orders with the bar and serves accordingly
6. Provides wine service for each table according to the wine selection ordered
7. Places orders with kitchen; informs cooks about any special cooking instructions
8. Assembles food on tray; procures items from each station as necessary
9. Serves meal; places dishes by courses in front of each person
10. Checks back to ensure member/guest satisfaction; replenishes water and other beverages as necessary
11. Removes soiled dishes
12. Suggests and serves dessert, coffee, and after dinner drinks
13. Verifies accuracy of prices, state and federal taxes, service fees and other charges on all guest checks
14. Presents the guest check – when required
15. Handles all credit card charges as prescribed by standard operating procedures
16. Keeps tables, dining room and bus station areas clean
17. Advises supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur
18. Performs clean-up and closing duties as assigned by manager
19. Attends pre-meal meetings as requested by the Dining Room Supervisor or Dining Room Manager
20. Assists with set-up, service and breakdown for special club buffets, tournaments, activities, etc.
21. Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.
